0:00 What the calculator does

This is the free NYPD pension calculator. It takes about two minutes, and you don’t need to give an email to see your number.

0:09 Your start month

Start with the month you came on. That sets your tier, and if you came on between July 2000 and June 2009, it also picks up the new salary law signed this September.

0:23 Years of service

Next, the years of service you’ll have on the day you leave. Twenty and twenty-five give you very different numbers, so try both.

0:32 Final average salary

Put in your last twelve months of pensionable pay, and your best three calendar years in a row. The calculator uses whichever the law says applies to you.

0:44 Your estimated pension

That’s your estimated pension. It’s an estimate. Your final number comes from the Police Pension Fund.

0:53 Get your Pension Printout

One more answer, your age, turns it into a Pension Printout you can take to your Fund appointment. Your rank and the accounts you have are optional, and they sharpen it.

1:05 The five decisions

Below that, the page lays out the five one-time decisions: your Annuity Savings Fund, your 457, your union annuity, your banked VSF and your pension option.

1:20 Share it

You can send it to someone, like your spouse. And if you add your email, it opens three more sections.
