A ten-section document covering the four decisions you cannot take back once your papers are in — in writing, with every figure sourced and every assumption listed, including the ones it had to make for you.
Already built your Snapshot on the FDNY page? Bring it across and most of this is already filled in. The Record is yours to print whether or not you ever speak to us.

The order is the CFP Board's seven-step process, which is also the order a licensed adviser is held to. Sections 4 and 5 — your current course, and the alternatives — are the two most plans skip.
A short series on the decisions this tool cannot make for you. Your plan stays in your browser either way — we never receive it.

About your pension figure. This page does not recalculate your fire pension. It uses the figure your Snapshot produced from the Fund's own documents, and it applies the rise your tier actually gets. Tier 3 escalation follows RSSL 510: full at 25 years of service, reduced by 1/36 for each month earlier, and none at all more than three years before the 25-year date — so collecting at twenty carries flat, which is exactly right. Tier 1 and 2 get the NYC pension COLA on the first $18,000 only; that cannot be written as one rate, so those pensions are carried flat and this page understates them slightly. EMTs and paramedics are in NYCERS, not the Fire fund — the Snapshot declines to estimate them rather than guessing, and so does this page.
Everything here is worked out on your own device. There is no account, nothing is sent to us, and we never see what you enter. Your answers are kept in the web address of this page, so bookmarking it or sending it to your partner brings the figures back — which also means anyone with the link can see them.
